Menorcan avarcas in Ciutadella
Caring for the avarcas
As we've already mentioned on this website, Menorcan avarcas are a type of footwear typical of the island, characterized by their durability (they last a long time) and overall good performance. At Avarques Naturals De Menorca SL, our store located in Ciutadella, we offer them in any color you like. They are usually made of leather and cowhide. They are very durable. Even so, it's always a good idea to keep in mind a series of recommendations for proper care and to ensure they last longer.
Part of the success of avarcas is that they're easy to wear and comfortable. They can also be easily combined. For all these reasons, once their use period (summer) is over, it's important to know how to store and clean them so that we can use them again without any problems next season.

Leather sandals
The first thing you need to know is the exact type of material they're made of, as their cleaning will depend on this. If they're leather, simply wiping them with a damp cloth will suffice. You can also apply a little colorless shoe polish. It's important to remove all dust and dirt before cleaning.

Suede avarcas
If your sandals are made of suede, you will need to clean them with a special brush for this material. Do so carefully and always in the direction of the nap.
You can remove stains with an eraser and any residue with a sponge.

Oiled or aged leather sandals
Daily cleaning should be done with a soft, dry brush or cloth. Remove all dust and dirt. If desired, you can also apply a natural wax or special grease.

Metallic leather sandals
You'll find a range of specific products on the market that won't damage these types of colors.

Other tips
To keep the stitching around the sandal white, you can use a new toothbrush. Scrape carefully in the direction of the thread.
To maintain their shape: place the shoe vertically, resting on its toe. If this option is not available due to space constraints, you can place them in their normal position, so that the toe of one meets the back of the other. The back straps should remain upright. Of course, store them away from light.
